Jaguars' Nick Foles sufferes severe shoulder injury Week 1

Nick Foles didn’t even last a quarter in his Jacksonville Jaguars debut.

The 30-year-old former Super Bowl MVP left the Jaguars’ 40-26 loss to the Chiefs Sunday in the first quarter with what was later diagnosed with a broken left clavicle, according to ESPN.

Foles, who will undergo surgery and is out indefinitely, appeared to get hurt when he landed on the shoulder hard on a hit by Kansas City’s Chris Jones.

The injury to Foles, whom the Jaguars signed to a four-year, $88 million contract, meant Jacksonville had to turn to rookie Gardner Minshew, a 23-year-old out of Washington State who was selected in the sixth round.

Foles did manage to make an impact before he departed, connecting with DJ Chark on a 35-yard touchdown pass. The Jaguars, however, trailed 17-7 at the end of the first quarter after two huge touchdown catches by Sammy Watkins.
