Gilligan’s Island is an American sitcom that aired on the CBS network from September 26, 1964, to April 17, 1967. The series is a comedy about seven castaways that survived on an island after a shipwreck.
The show was popular especially in the 1980s when it was shown in different countries.
The cast was; Bob Denver, Alan Hale Jr., Jim Backus, Natalie Schafer, Tina Louise, Russell Johnson, Dawn Wells and Charles Maxwell.
They became instant stars and the show produced spin-offs like the animated remake, The New Adventures of Gilligan in 1974, Rescue from Gilligan’s Island and The Castaways on Gilligan’s Island.
Sadly, at the time of this publication, Tina Louise who starred as “Ginger” is the only surviving member of the cast. Tina is 88 years old and lives in New York.
Bob Denver died from cancer on September 2, 2005. Jim Backus died on July 3, 1989, from Parkinson’s disease. Natalie Schafer died from cancer on April 10, 1991.
Russell Johnson died from kidney failure on January 16, 2014. Alan Hale Jr. had thymus cancer and died on January 2, 1990.
Finally, Dawn Wells died from Covid-related complications and died on December 30, 2020, at the age of 82.
