Taylor Heinicke (born March 15, 1993) is an American football quarterback for the National Football League’s Washington Commanders (NFL). He attended Old Dominion University before signing as an undrafted free agent with the Minnesota Vikings in 2015. Heinicke has also played for the New England Patriots, Houston Texans, and Carolina Panthers, as well as the XFL’s St. Louis BattleHawks. In 2020, he filled in for an injured Alex Smith in a Wild Card playoff game for Washington, and he started the majority of the 2021 season after Ryan Fitzpatrick was injured.
